In a strong storm, it’s not uncommon for trees to come down. If the tree comes down on your house it can cause massive damage. This damage would be covered by your homeowners insurance but I’m sure we would all prefer to avoid such a scenario if at all possible.

Preparing For The Possibility Of A Flood

A standard homeowners insurance policy will not cover floods. If you live in a known flood zone, then obviously you would want to get additional coverage to protect you from flooding.

Even if you live in an area not known for flooding you may still want to consider getting flood insurance. F.E.M.A. records show that 25% of all flood losses occur to people who are at low risk for flooding.

Protect Your Roof From Hail

If you live in an area that’s prone to hailstorms your roof could sustain a substantial amount of damage in a hail storm where golf ball sized chunks of ice are pummeling your roof.

If your roof is damaged by hail your homeowners insurance would probably cover that but it may not be worth it to make a claim depending on the amount of damage, the cost of your deductible, and the thought of increasing premiums.
