I hear you have been cruising your old neighborhood. You have high anticipations because you’re going to see long-lost friends and relatives, and then it happens. A person you may be acquainted with comes over and talks to you and calls you by your name. If you spend time to train your brain and increase your memory, you will be better able to remember old friends. It is absolutely devastating when you have to tell other people that you don’t recall what they are called, or who they are, and you can see their disappointment.

The hardest part is when you have forgotten them and the guilt that comes along with it. You didn’t do it on purpose, you just had a memory lapse. If you spend time to train your brain and increase your memory, you will be better able to remember old friends. They are all classified under one term known as memory training. Most of these exercises are designed to improve your ability to retain information with different ways to store little bits of information to your long term memory.

Practice in Improving Memory.

As your body needs to maintain physical fitness and overall health, your brain needs it as well You cannot expect to go out running for some time and believe that this will help you remember things better. Having a healthy body is helpful, but there are also specific training techniques that will improve your memory.

Your memory training can be facilitated by daily actions you can take. First of all, you need to keep your thoughts active, meaning don’t just sit there with a blank stare, but try to keep thinking about anything. You can and should let your mind go out of focus and use your imagination. Encourage your mind to develop interesting, creative new destinations to explore and then use your memory to return to these new worlds. Another activity you might try is solving crossword puzzles or assembling a jigsaw puzzle without previewing the completed picture.

Even videogames made for your memory training are available. They are priced fairly reasonably, about $30, and are known to be difficult. They contain exercises with time limits, and various quizzes and tests. Memory training is much like getting into shape so if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by it all it will pass. Your brain may initially try to balk from the influx of new information, but the training will eventually take hold and be extremely helpful to you.
